Hostgator vs Lunarpages
We are currently hosted under Lunarpages and our web sites been down very frequently. I am not sure if its only recent instance or what but I sure not very happy with their service. When I first joined them, I was happy to know they have a online chat but now it seems no longer available
Our web sites are not hosted under dedicated servers plan but we are considering moving to one because every now and then we have problems with people not able to receive our emails (AOL users or schools, etc.) We looked up one of our web sites one time and that our server ip was marked as porn in those listing service?!
So here are my questions:
1) Should we stay and move to dedicated server on LP and hope things will change? maybe the downtime only due to recent instances?
2) Or should we move? I talked to Hostgator and very happy about them. What do you think of them? They seem have to the same features with LP that we need (Cpanel especially)
3) Is there any other web hosting companies suggestions
Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much!

In my opinion HostGator is WAY overrated. Yea i would go with LunarPages, they seem the better host, or checkout servage.

Well, I would never compare Hostgator with Servage for sure. They are a class apart. It might be me who thinks that, and I may be wrong. But I think that you be better off searching the forums for reviews on Servage.

have you asked lunarpages what the downtime is for and why your ip listed as porn?
see what they say about the downtime a server doesn't just go down for no reason without an answer

hey JeremyES
Well I asked them about the downtime they said its because their nameservers were under attack. But it didn't happen just recent week, its been going on for months on one particular server that we use (we have several accounts with LP.)
When I asked them why the server that my web site is on being listed as porn, they basically didn't really give me a reason and there isn't much I could do about it. They told me I could request move to another server and sorta gave me an impression that they didn't care too much.
I am basically not happy with their customer service. When I first signed up I was very happy to know that they have the chat room and support ticket, etc. Everytime when I tried to call them, they put me on this hours long wait to talk to someone. Also they eventually took that support chat room away. But on their web site main page they said they are 24x7 phone technical support whatever, but when I called this 24x7 support after hours, I reached the recording service and told me to email and submit support ticket..
I'm like wtf..

Can I ask why Hostgator is your only other option? Are you open for other providers? And are you looking for a dedicated server or a larger plan?
