I'm a newbie on vps, I hosted several site on shared hosting before and turn into a vps about 2 month ago.
At the first time, everything run normally and I was glad with my VPS performance, until several issue coming.
All my site become unstable. Some time slow, then fast and sometime down for several minutes.
When I ask the technical support they said that my VPS is out of RAM and suggest me to upgrade my package.
What make I confused is that I only have 8 account at my VPS and none of them run on high traffic (The most active one only need 40 GB bw mothly and the others need about 1-2 GB monthly).
Any body can explain me what factor that will makes a VPS out of RAM?
And also, how much account (domain) supposed to create on my VPS with specification:
Hard Drive Space 20 GB
Monthly Bandwidth 300 GB
Guaranteed RAM 384 MB
How many visitors do you average a day between all of your sites?
If you use Cpanel they recommend a min of 256 MB of RAM to so with only 384 you may now have that much extra RAM.
The VPS hardware node could also be oversold.
When you are in SSH and run top -c how much RAM does it say is available or free at these slow times?
Top -c will not give the memory of your actual VPS but show the total memory and used memory of the hardware node that your VPS box is on. (I think I could be wrong with this one though as I am still learing about VPS myself)
