    How to block the ports

I want to open only the necessary ports in Windows 2003. What is the easiest way to do this? Please dont say "IPsec", its time consuming.

    Thanks in advance.

Close the processes that are holding the ports you don't want open.

Otherwise, if you want more control -- I would suggest an external firewall. (could use a software firewall but I can't think of any that I have liked in Windows. ISA is definitely crap)

If you are very much sure what all the ports you need to allow then you can use tcp/ip filtering.

Zonealarm - These firewalls are located upon the network driver layer of the operating system, and prevent connections to or from specific blocked ports or install firewall like visnetic etc.,
