You should have no problem installing wordpress using fantastico

From the reviews I have read here on WHT, Hostgator is a reliable company, they have been in business since 2002.

    Hi.

We used Hostgator on a reseller plan for a few years and never had a problem.

Installation of wordpress is a simple few click install through Fantastico so you should be up and running quickly.

Uptime was always good and Hostgator are good value for money.

I suggest the same thing as that is always a good thing to do.

Hostgator is one of the popular hosting companies here on WHT and I didn't have any problems with them hosting my site.

Call me old fashioned, but I will recommend you to install it manually, keep track of new releases and upgrade as soon as possible. Also, always have a recent backup of your database. Hostgator is a good host, I know it from personal experience, but that's not an excuse for you to not do things the right way.

    Okay, your Old Fashioned!

Why not also make a short list of a few other hosts? Don't get me wrong, HostGator has a good reputation around here. But there are a lot of other good hosts around here as well. Just a suggestion.

Okay Dan, now you can call me a name!

WordPress would definitely suit your needs. I would be a bit careful when considering Fantastico, although most of the time they are reasonably quick in keeping up to date. That said, if you want the latest and greatest, using Fantastico is probably a bad idea. HostGator, the search function on these forums will tell you the answer much better than this thread. You might want to consider widening your options with regards to hosts and specifying your monthly/yearly budget and currency preference.

    frm wat i did. just:
    - download the wordpress script.
    - create mysql database through hosting panel, eg cpanel.
    - open the connection files in wordpress. update the connection string.
    - upload all files to server.
    - run the blog page. done

basically u can do it bit manually as above.
