How do you make a webpage alias (shortcut) on mac OS X?

I want to make an alias aka a shortcut in windows. I want to be able to make this alias point to a webpage so if I wanted to check my gmail account I can click the alias and open gmail rather then having to type it in etc.

Is this possible under Mac OS X? If so how do you do it? Thanks.

Most browsers support launching a webpage via command line. It would probably just be

    /usr/local/bin/somebrowser http://google.com

So, then you could just make the script, and put it into your ~/Desktop/, or whatever directory osx uses for user desktops.

    What browser are you using?
