Can someone with experience with configserver give me a little help? I was recommended to install this on my linux VPS because it`s almost an addon that can be installed and left running.
That said, I`ve successfully installed it, but now I`m pretty much stuck on configuring it. Currently it`s in testing mode, I`m terrified to press too many buttons or change too many configs incase I get locked out of my server
The installation txt only focused on installing, and the only guide I could find appeared geared up for sys admin gurus and the like.
I`m pretty new to all this stuff. I just my VPS as secure as is possible, but still as lightly loaded and flexible as possible.
using IPtables on a VPS isn't something that you're going to have fun with . In fact, it can cause performance issues.
All you need to do, realistically is make sure you have the normal ports opened for incoming and outgoing traffic. If you're running your web browser behind a proxy, make sure to add THAT port too.
If you go to www.whatismyip.com and add THAT ip (and only that ip) to the allowed hosts (in whm or shell, either way), then restart it, you should have no issues at all.
