Can I redirect sub.domain.com to domain.com/page.php?name=sub via htaccess?

I want to redirect:

http://subdomain.domain.com

to http://www.domain.com/page.php?=subdomain

Would it be possible via htaccess?

If not, how can I do it?

Yes.

Check the docs for mod_rewrite and mod_redirect
