Is it only me or Gmail isn't accessible

My connection dies while trying to login to my gmail webmail account. 4-5 hours already. POP3/SMTP is functioning w/o any problems.

    Is this for me only?

I can access GMail fine myself. It sounds like a connection problem, possibly a DNS problem.

What type of connection are you on?

    Hm... Looks like it's me...

Connection just hangs while trying to login (I can access http://gmail.com just fine!). I am on 3mbps cable and never ever had any problems like this before. Have tried several browsers, several OSes. Nothing helps...

Just hope it will fix itself soon (not that I need webmail urgently at all).

Are you able to reset your connection to the internet? (if it's not a permanent line)

I've had a problem like this before and changing my IP address fixed the problem. It was later found that there was a problem with that IP range with the ISP.

Not sure if this is the same issue or not though

It's been very hard to login to my Gmail for over a week now. It keeps coming up with a blank white page with Loading in the upper left hand corner, then another page with loading in red letters in the upper right hand corner and it keeps toggling back and forth for at least 30 seconds and then finally I'm logged in. Once logged in I can zip through everything at lightning speeds including logging out.

Not in my case, I was using Zone Alarm firewall when the problem first occurred and now I'm using Tiny Personal Firewall and it's still doing it.

Works just fine down here in Texas... I am able to go to the site as well as login to my GMail account.

Strange thing. Today I've tried to login from my work - everything went just fine. I still can't login from home... This couldn't be a network issue, because the traceroute to mail.google.com is quite fine:

    Code:
    $ traceroute mail.google.com
traceroute: Warning: mail.google.com has multiple addresses; using 64.233.167.18

Sure, there're some lost packets on 11th hop, but this can't be the case, really.

    I am lost...

Well if it works fine at your work, it's something to do with your computer itself. Is there any recent software you have installed which you then noticed it to stop logging in? It may be anti-virus software, or a firewall disallowing cookies, or blocking ports.

Have a check, but not 100% sure on it, sorry.

I want to think that this is a network-related problem though.

I have a domain which email is hosted by Google/GMail. Strange thing - no problem logging to these. Webmail works like charm...

    Really strange.

Even stranger - it looks like I am not alone having this problem...

    Resolved using Firefox

Well I tried the refresh thing but it just kept on bringing up the "loading" page over and over. I normally use Crazy Browser which is just IE with a few more features including tabs so I tried going to my Gmail with Firefox and it works just fine. I tested this several times and it worked every time with FF but never with Crazy Browser. As much as I hate FireFox, I guess I'll have to use it for Gmail.

Well as you said a bit earlier, the 11th hop may be experiencing packet loss and that may be causing the long delay or refusal of connection.

It may be wise to contact your internet service provider (via phone) as they could help you with any issues directly either to do with the network or your computer.

    Drac
