    Question Json

A client has asked me to install JSON, so I have a few questions:
    1) Is it Ok to install JSON (security etc)
    2) How do you install JSON?

    Thanks in advance

The second link had install instructions but I get the following:
    /usr/local/bin/phpize: /tmp/pear/cache/json-1.2.1/build/shtool: /bin/sh: bad interpreter: Permission denied
Cannot find autoconf. Please check your autoconf installation and the $PHP_AUTOCONF
environment variable is set correctly and then rerun this script.

    ERROR: `phpize' failed

I'd install it as a php extension module: http://www.aurore.net/projects/php-json/ if only for the speed benefits.

I doubt it'd be any more insecure than normal PHP code - ie, it could suffer from injection attacks, but otherwise I do not think it'll provide backdoors to your system as it is just a library for PHP input parameters. You could make up some mod_security rules to ensure that only valid json input is accepted.

That second link is for a vps that already has it installed.

Download the json-php source from some place like freshmeat and then
./configure, make, make install then add an "extension =json.so" line to your php.ini file.
