I just saw a new movie commercial.... a family of spies, with a kid as the lead...
Hasn't that been done twice?
Also, how come every CGI movie now copies one released by another company? Two y ears ago, there where two movies about ants/bugs. Now, every CGI company seems to be making movies about zoo animals, or fuzzy animals.
Is there no more originality in hollywood?

Wasn't V based off of an older comic book? That's where the originality came from -- hollywood still had ideas back then.
Yeah it is, I think every recent movie I've liked is recycled, Superman Returns, King Kong, etc. There's not that much original content anymore, even though it was based off a comic book it was a still a pretty original movie though.
I just saw Poseidon the other day and completely loved it. Thought it was the best movie I have seen in years.

What was that movie called, SPYKIDS or somthing lame. I'm with you on that. I happend to have a neat idea for a movie a day or two ago. It's called "The War on America's Doorstep". Basically it's about world war 3 on American soil. You know what they say, controversey sells.
I wouldn't say originality is dead...there are some great movies coming out such as The Prestige, Flags of our Fathers, and I'm sure that the new Scorsese one is good. I am pretty confident that true originality eventually runs out in all fields of art -- especially a high grossing one such as movies. Take a look at music -- how many times has a band sang about that "one who got away"? Hollywood is just especially repetitive because once someone makes something great, producers believe that they can replicate it and pay for their kids' tuition ten times over. After Pulp Fiction came out, how many movies started using the non-sequential format?
New movies with new ideas will always come out. But hollywood makes movies based on market conditions, they meet demands. If people are paying to see movies that aren't necessarily original but are remade and modern, then that's what hollywood will do. There is still originality out there, Old School for example is my #1 favorite movie, and it was very original and funny. Anchorman as well. Sure Spiderman might be based off a comic book, but is it not a great movie as well? Same with XMen? That's how Hollywood has made movies even decades upon decades ago. Look at "To Kill A Mockingbird". It was based off a book and was first made in black and white.

As soon as somebody discovers a gold mine, everybody is trying to take advantage of that and grab a little. The same thing happened after "Saving Private Ryan" when 3 other war movies were created.
This is how things will always be. As long as there is a demand and people will spend money to see a certain type of movie, they are going to provide that, to fulfill that "need". People like animated movies nowadays, there are a bunch of them out there.
There are going to be original ideas, we just have to wait a while to see one.
