Gisol

I have just had the worst experience one could possibly have regarding a web host, namely GISOL (global internet solutions). I would truly like to warn anyone who would actually considder this Co. for your $$$$ and business. As a customer of their's for 4 years, I truly didn't know the "true face's" behind this Co. untill I wanted to move my business to another Host. I started this process 7 days ago, 42 emails, 5 phone calls, and a call to the BBB. My domain name hasn't been unlocked as of today (6 days), and although I have registered with another Host (HostMonster.com), and uploaded ALL of my files to their servers; I can't use the account because GISOL still has an UNLAWFUL lock on my domain name. If there is anyone who can help me get this issue resolved, I would be truly grateful. Thanks, and I am happy to be your newest Member!

Bill

Did you try logging in and changing your domain name servers to your new host until you get the domain transferred?

This is another example of why you dont register a domain with your hosting provider.

What domain name are you trying to transfer? If we know that we can see where it is registered and if they are a reseller maybe you can just bypass them.

Have they told you they won't unlock it, or what reasoning are they giving for not allowing you to move it?

I have full access to my file's at my new host, but they have their hands tied until my former host GISOL, unlocks my domain. They are involved in trying to get through to them as well. Also, my registrar (allindomains), is working on my behalf.

My host has NO REASON to lock my domain, and have yet to give me one. They don't even respond to my emails, and I was hung up on when I called them 5 time's. My contract was up, and I wanted to change host's.

This is the problem when you get "a free domain" (assuming it is a free one), if its not a free one then why the hell didn't you register with a dns registrar yourself ??

Most of the time with a "free" domain it is not legally yours, it is registered to your host and if they don't want to free it up for you then there's pretty much nothing you can do..

I guess the lesson here is always register domains yourself

Good luck, and please let us know the outcome

Ok, i'm now confused as to what the problem is.. either you have got problem resolved or you don't have a very good registrar,

Domain Services Provided By:
Alldomains.com, support@alldomains.com
http://www.alldomains.com

Is what i get from a whois.

your host wouldn't lock the domain, only you or the registrar can do this from the domains control panel.

A little more explaining is needed please

.........It is not a FREE domain, I paid for it, and registered it. I own it, and have for the past 4 years. I Have no Idea as to WHY my previous host (GISOL) will not unlock it, or locked it in the first place. I need help, which is why I came to this Forum (which came HIGHLY recommended).

You're confused!!! Imagine how I feel! case in point:

On my new cPanal, I click on transfer domain. The page comes up and say's that my domain is STILL locked, and points to my old hosts servers. It say's I need to contact them and have then unlock my domain, and point to new name servers. I do not have access to my old account at GISOL because I didn't re-new the service. I feel they are holding my domain "Hostage", which I learned they do quite a bit. I have done everything I possibly can, but they are un-responsive.

And what do alldomains.com say about this ???
Why cant they just unlock it and let you go on your way ?

If the domain is registered to you, then they have no choice.

"Response (Nathan H) - 10/05/2006 09:07 AM
William,

I am having our reseller manager contact gisol about this, as they are responsible for the care of their customers. He will make sure they contact you and get this resolved.

Thank you"

Anyway, it is nothing to do with your new host.. it shouldn't really be anything to do with your old host, a domain that your have bought and paid for yourself is between you and the registrar, nobody else.
this is why I don't understand how your old host can have this type of hold over you.
