all in the title i am useing cent os i found that mysql and apcahe were killing my server well people i host were abuseing them i have limithed the conections to mysql but how would i lower the amount of resorces tha apache takes.
judging from my experience large apache processes (200-300 Mb or even upto 1 Gb)caused
by bugged php scripts.
I would advice to do some investigation and make sure that it is. If so, you can try to
1) implement php memory limit. (probably you will have to recompile php)
2) The second what I can advise is to set up a simple script to kill large processes.
The one I can I advise is PRM (Process Resource Monitor), but it s a bit complex and
does various checks. I used my own, I needed only to check apache processes.
