    Dear Site5 Please NO UPGRADE

It would be great to have the option of not upgrading. Especially since every upgrade is averaging now major downtime. This was a very good company what on earth happened here, I got an email that my server was being upgraded, apparently being upgraded to being offline lol.

All these servers and mine is the one that has been down all week

    http://www.site5.com/support/currentstatus.php

Needless to say I am forced to move from site5 and its too bad they used to offer a great service and support not sure what went wrong here.

From reading the threads looks like they decided to just get as many people as fast as they can but once you start having this much downtime I do not know how you ever can get your rep back.

Add a gang of accounts then try to upgrade to keep up just doesnt work. Again I had great service for over a year with them but the last month experience I would not wish on anyone.

Today I lay my sould down to sleep, I wish I may I wish I might,

That site5 won't attempt another horrible upgrade tonight.

Did you notice how many servers had a load of around 10? This includes my old server that I used to be on (Dione). I agree that they have gone downhill fast! Too bad they keep saying that they are working to make things better but we keep seeing more and more refugees from them coming here to complain.

yeah i agree I just got a funny email form them Down 2 days and this is the reponse.

    Hello,

We don't have an official ETR for this. A hard drive restore can take
    several hours to complete.

The forum thread I linked in my previous message should be updated
    regularly as the restore progresses.

    Thank you.

what does all that mean the load average and things. what is ideal numbers for this?

    Site5 sent me this http://florida.websitepulse.net/uptime/C5572I9161.html

however i know for a fact that the site has been down for 2 days. Yet for this month uptime it reads 95% how is this possible?

I know website pusle is a third party company I just dont get why it doesnt say the 25% uptime that I know is what I have got on my end.

Site 5 has been having issues for some time. It seems the their upgrades accelerated the number of negative reviews for them. It seems each year a different host takes the negative spotlight. One year it was CI Host, another A-Plus net, now Site 5.

Tons of servers appear to be overloaded from their server status report page. Some loads are up to 28+

I got an email that my server was being upgraded, apparently being upgraded to being offline lol.
What exactly were they upgrading on their servers? was it a hardware or software upgrade?

I see one server offline entirely, and one server with any issues which were only http being down.

Now, I do agree that the loads are Way too high - I can't agree more. But at the same time, how do we know how accurate that page is - which could also go both ways as to how accurate their uptime notifications are.

    Either way,
they need more servers and to spread these things out more. They cant use 100 servers for that many customers.

The load average gives a snapshot of how hard the server is working summed up in one number. There's really no excuse for it ever reaching above 1.0 on a single proc server, or 2.0 on a dual proc server from my own understanding. After that the server's response times will noticably suffer, and if it gets too high, there's a risk of it freaking out and crashing.

Ya know it was funny reading this post and thinking back to an article that was written by the Site5 "engineering" team

It looks more like someones been bumping all the site5 threads, not that theres a massive surge in negative reviews. Some of the bumped threads are over a month old.

Perhaps threads older then xx days should be locked?
