Got to the first page of D*I*G*G but my host had my site down....
for around 20 of the past 24 hours.....what a bummer. When I first hooked up with site5 things looked so promising. But lately the downtime has been unbearable and like all oversellers they were trying to tell me that they had to place some restrictions on my ip because of abuse, when I asked for urgent clarification of this they waited a good 10 hours and then said, "your sites are up"!
Perhaps next time around you won't shop based on price.
You also seem fairly well versed on the topic. Next time around heed your own intuition.
Don't shop based on bigger package sizes, it's a silly move to make.
I didn't really shop based on price. I read reviews on SP and here and many folks said site5 is good. I spoke to them and they seemed friendly and they were helpful moving my sites over. My real problem began when I was asking for additional ip's for SEO purposes. It was like pulling teeth and then they promised me some, then the changed their minds, then promised them again, then changed their minds again.
Sites are mostly wordpress blogs, a few directories, nothing that is getting too much traffic. Yes it seems digg is what made them shut down all sites on that ip. Not much data transfer because the content from the digged site is hosted elsewhere.
I am not sure of exact downtime but in the past 3 months they are down quite often. Lately there have been emails about upgrades and maintanence so I guess that is the reason for some of it.
Bottom line is that I am always below my alloted resources so I would expect to be up and running 99% of the time....but that doesn't seem to be the case :-(
I have now been thinking of gettng a VPS account but probably need a managed one so I am not sure about pricing.

Funny how many people here forget recommending site5 in every thread
Sorry jg123, not a fun spot to be in. Lots of good hosts out there - and I think you will find that if you spend your budget on a package with the resources you actually need vs these huge packages, your problems will go away.
