which payment processor?

A client is using CardService International, which is expensive and its features are lacking. We are looking at authorize.net and verisign (now paypal?)

anyone have suggestions or feelings of which system they prefer?

sincerely

Get an Authorize.net merchant account, we got ours from cdgcommerce.com and are very happy with their service.

I'm assuming you are using the Linkpoint gateway since that is what CardService likes to push. You should read this article which compares LinkPoint, Authorize.net, and Verisign.

I agree with Jaime that Authorize.net gateway is probably the best way to go. Integrating their Advanced API is pretty easy and the gateway as a whole is rock solid.

Thanks for the kind words, DinoHost.

Out of the gateways mentioned in this thread, my vote would also go for Authorize.Net.

Just remember that there are two pieces - the merchant account and the gateway. Authorize.Net or Verisign or Linkpoint is the gateway... you still need to have a merchant account to authorize you to process credit cards. The good news is that usually these are offered as a bundle through various merchant processors so you can get them both at the same time.

I'd recommend either Authorize.NET or SkipJack.
Take a close look at the flexibility provided with each. You'll find SkipJack allows for more options, but Authorize.NET is a well known name.

Good luck.

Authnet is just a gateway, not a processor.

The assumption was that per this post:
