I have many world war 2 sites, 38 in total. They occupy 20GB of disk space currently, use 100GB bandwidth and with growth in the next 12 months the traffic will increase as it has year on year since 2000.
I have about another 18GB files to be uploaded on the network between the various sites.
To give you an idea.
I am deciding where to go next, vps/vds or dedicated. Shared and reseller just do not give me the flexibility any more to do what I want.
I am competent with Linux so have no fear on managing my own box. But what is the view on what I should take and what is sufficient.
I was considering hosting in the UK and US, its expensive in the UK but I can get a good deal from a host I have been speaking to there (2host.co.uk)
A couple of my sites as you can see above are for listening to mp3 files and watching videos, apart from that you have forums and other basic sites.
So what do you all recomend?
2host recomend a VDS, 1/4 share cpu (dual opteron), 1GB ram, 80GB drive.
I looked at EV1 at they have a celeron 2.0GHZ with 512MB ram and 80GB drive.
You would need to know the speed of the VDS/VPS server, if it was a single p4 cut up 4 ways, it would be better going with the Celeron dedicated server(add another 512mb ram if possible). If it was say a dual core dual cpu, then you would be better off.
