    Opinions of Verio?

    On http://www.choopa.com/infrastructure/network.php

multiple Tier 1 providers. We do not purchase any Cogent, Verio, and resold Transit.
Since when was Verio considered low quality?

Well Cogent uses Verio paths....but I think Verio is good bandwidth if you get it in the right location...some locations aren't as good as others.

Dallas is a strong location for them.

Just a correction - Verio is now just a shared hosting company (which is a division of NTT, which does the IP transit for Verio and other customers). Just wanted to make that distinction.

Also, from my understanding, Choopa is an adult-content oriented company. That may be part of why they don't like NTT (either they don't allow porn on their network or they don't serve it fast or cheap enough). I can't complain about NTT's network, having been on it before.

I've never heard that, so I'm just curious as to why you think that? I know Choopa is big with IRC and such...

Verio has good bandwidth and good global reach.

I don't know why Choopa (what a funny name) put it in same row with Cogent - may be because of lack of Choopa knowledge (?) - I don't see any other explanations...

Verio + AboveNet is my favorite providers for quality/price criteria.

Choopa is a large adult provider... that's what all their bandwidth is from...

Also NTT is very cheap so it can't be the cost aspect of it, lots of people in adult don't like NTT for some reason...

Choopa is known for pushing adult content primarily. That is what their 25gbits+ is from... They have a very high performance network though....

Verio isn't bad, but I'd rather not use them.

I wouldn't recommend Verio to a friend, or an enemy. They're on my top 5 list of the worst vendors I've ever done business with.

Few peoples here said already "I wouldn't recommend Verio" - can I heard REAL reason - WHY ? You never try or had bad expirience long time ago ?

Pricing and quality is very nice, Verio is Tier1 network (not like a Cogent or Yipes) - it's working just fine for us.

From what I understood, Verio has some of the lowest latency you can get to Japan. I haven't checked up on them in a while though, and it is interesting to read about the acquisition(2000, yikes thats old news), thanks for the pointer.
