cPanel - Current, Stable or Release ?
Can you share your experiences and opinions on whether it is better to go for Current, Stable or Release version of cPanel ? I've seen different reputable hosts using different versions, so I'm not sure whether which to use on a production server which is used for shared hosting and reseller hosting.

We used the EDGE release for years, on production Servers. No problems and ran really well but then one day, Accounts with Dedicated IPs starting showing Shared IPs within Cpanel. No idea why and it couldn't be fixed. Then switched to RELEASE which we've now been using for just over a year and no problems; that any other build doesn't have.

stable. Being extreme cutting edge does nothing if your server takes a dive

ServerSupportGuys, I know that cPanel isn't very stable and has got bugs, anyway, I was just asking for opnions from those who are using cPanel, not whether you would choose cPanel or not.
BTW, thanks for the replies Rob and AvailNetworks. Regarding EDGE version, is it more like a beta version with extra/new features ?0

Some say EDGE should not be run on a production Server but it is up to you. Having used it for a few years on a few Servers, it did seem to solve some problems that other builds were having at the time. Personally, I like the RELEASE build and barring any problems that cannot be fixed and that other builds are also having as well, will continue to the RELEASE build.

ok Rob. I just noticed that cPanel themselves recommend to use CURRENT version. So its kind of confusing which to go for.

Thanks for the replies... Just a question... Is it possible to upgrade or downgrade to a different version anytime ? Like if I am in Current version, can I downgrade to Stable and vice versa ? Is there any problem in doing like that ?

Since the cPanel exploited, we use CURRENT now. Last time we used STABLE, no problems.

Usually RELEASE, but EDGE if there is a problem with RELEASE.
Dont like STABLE as they never actually are stable.

It isn't necessary to use CURRENT version, because the issue with the exploit was resolved. So Stable or Release is fine. I prefer Release.
