    Credit Card.

It offers the most protection to the user and is easy to use. No need to sign up and fill out even more forms or wait for a check to come in the mail and clear. It is fast and easy to setup and use.

Credit card is the most popular, with PayPal the second most popular, from my experience. I'd guess that that would be industry wide too.

Like everyone else, I would prefer Credit Card, then PayPal.

The best payment method is the one my customer wants to use... hence as a business, it is alway a good idea to offer as many payment methods as possible.

I'd say Credit Card (in the order of Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover), then PayPal, then Check/Money Order.

For me checks and paypal are a close tie, but I do local business as well so that's why.

As for Credit Cards themselves, rarely do I get an AMEX request, so now I've just dropped them.

Whenever I spend money online, I always look to see if they accept Paypal. I would much rather just deal with giving my financial information to one company (Paypal).

I would have to say depends on what type of clients you cater to. All my income comes from different avenues on the internet from adult webmastering, hosting, web design and programming (the webdesign and programming are all freelance work). So I have many different types of clients or customer from many different countries.

I currently have paypal, 2checkout, epassporte, firepay, moneybooker and use everyone. It has been said that its good to not have all you money is one basket, if that is the case then I am doing fine. But actually the adult industry uses epassporte a lot, my hosting clients go for 2checkout or paypal.

Preferring credit card over another form of payment would also depend of your industry. Such as adult industry has to put up with a lot of chargebacks, which to many of those and your processor might charge you a higher percentage of cancel your account alltogher.

Hope this provides some insight on things.

Credit Card and E-gold are better payment systems if you have international customers.
Also I can suggest AlertPay as the international payment system.
PayPal is very good, but limited to about 40-50 countries. In one way, it covers all top economic countries, but the rest of the world can't pay with it.
