Looking at getting my first dedicated box, wondering what everyone out there is doing for billing software. do any of cpanel, plesk or helm come with integrated billing support or is it better off using something like modern bill?
cPanel is one of the best known control panel so I would stick with that. No it does not include a billing system. There are many on the market depending on what you are aiming to do with the server. My suggestion if you are using it for shared and resellers hosting is to use whmcs its both support and billing and is around $13 a month to lease. Mondern Billing is good however is very complicated and would suite a big business before a small hosting company.
If you click on 'myplesk' in the control panel it'll take you right to the Plesk e-commerce store. the first link for billing is modernbill. hehe.
Anyway, i doubt if you'll find much of a decent billing system in a control panel. it's similar to buying a rack stero compared to individual components. let the CPs stick to making their stuff work, and get billing software that also has dedicated people to work on it. Usually better off.
ModernBill is without question the most robust, flexible and scaleable. But in the same breath, it will take a while to get familiar with it so plan to spend a little time with it.
