He's investing "profits" into his own company called "Virgin Fuels". I applaud him for investing into alternative fuel sources, but this is hardly a charitable donation. New fuel sources will be huge business if they can crack it.

See this is what I call a good business man. He is doing the right thing but admiting he is doing it for the "wrong" reasons. Adds to his integrity.
On the other hand, no charity will ever be the foundation of research like this due to funding, so it will need to be a cash hungry company and I am glad it is his as I admire his startup in the business world.
On a side note for anyone interested, the reason it is called Virgin is because they were virgin to the world of business when they started.

I too think it added to his integrity to be very up front and say that it is for profit investment in the first 30 seconds on his interview. The news was first touting it was some charitable donation, he set the record straight really quickly.
