Well I've just got home from seeing DOA: Dead or Alive which is yet another crappy movie! Although in this case I did pretty much expect it before I went in.
It's got me thinking about other films I've seen over the year and I'm really struggling to think of anything that was actually that good. I've got a huge DVD collection but looking at it I've hardly purchased/pre-ordered any DVDs of recent films. I've just been through a list of films that I've seen this year and picked out a few for my list of best and worst. What are yours?
The Pink Panther
Scary Movie 4
The Da Vinci Code (Thought I was going to be permanently paralysed from the waist down after sitting for what felt like hours through this one!)
Miami Vice (Trailer looked amazing, but a huge disappointment)
DOA (Nice women... but crap acting, crap story, crap effects etc etc)
Lucky Number Slevin (A film I think I could watch again and again)
Mission: Impossible III (Nothing too special, but a nice action movie)
X-Men 3 almost made it on the best list but I thought the end sequence wasn't up to much. There was a few other films which make the "OK" list and will probably end up on my DVD shelf when they drop in price, but it really looks to me like it was quite a poor year for films!
I've only seen 3 movies this year.
Pink Panther - one of the worst.
I looked forward with great anticipation to The Da Vinci Code. I wouldn't say it was one of the worst but it sure was the biggest disappointment.
Pirates of the Caribbean - one of the best - saw it twice.
This summer I say "World Trade Center" and "Accepted".
World Trade Center was amazingly pathetic IMHO. There were so many mistakes that I couldn't even take it seriously. It started off with playing a Toby Keith song that was released *after* 9/11. That made me lose any interest in it.
Accepted was awesome -- funny every minute of it. I'd pay to see it again.
