Question Cpanel Permission Issue with a directory

    Hi folks:

    I'm running CentOS 4.3 with Cpanel/WHM 10.8

I received a request from a user that he can't access a subfolder in his 'public_html'

    "d--------- 19 shoot shoot 4096 Feb 12 2006 thepit"

When I try to run this command:

    "chmod 755 thepit"

    It gives the following error.

[email protected] [/home/shoot/public_html]# chmod 755 thepit
chmod: changing permissions of `thepit': Operation not permitted

any help will be appreicated as am not an expert in this.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello ,

I do think that you should check the folder attributes by *lsattr* command.
what is the output of lsattr -d thepit ?

I think I got it working.

But I have to rename the directory and restore it from the backup.
