I didn't think I needed a site review of www.wii-underdogs.com, but I am wrong apparently. I ran some MySpace bulletins last month, got a few hundred visitors and a few dozen new members. Seemed fine. But during the Nintendo conferences (Sept 13-15), I've run Google ads -- 200 visitors came to the site, but not a single person became a member.
Well for one - You can't really tell it has anything to do with the gamining industry. It is a very basic design layout and color scheme that doesn't scream excitement. I couldn't really even of told you what the site was about until I dug a bit deeper in it.
I would suggest bring in some content / images that would bring some eye candy to your site to grab people's attention. My first thought - was "a nother dog site".
You should provide something unique and interesting that would make people stay on your site and even recommend to others. For example like an advanced user interaction. Just news, images, and trailers just doesn't really cut it anymore because people can get them at the more popular and complete sites.
Work on the design and think about your site's purpose - why does your site exist when there are thousands other similar sites like yours, with contents all the same with some reworded? That is if you want your site to cope global audiences. But if it's just for you and your friends hanging out - then it doesn't really matter.

There you go. People probably knew the news already from other sites before coming to yours - so they simply just left.
