Need a good webhost
I've been with 100webspace for almost a year now (personal pro plan). I run a hardware review site at furytech.net, and lately I've been running into problems with pages not displaying. Turns out 100webspace artifically limits the number of users on a site, and with the number of hits I've been getting, 100webspace just isn't going to work anymore.
I get from 150-250 hits a day, and lots of DB access. I also need about 1.5gb-2.0gb of space, since I running the Angband Variant site as well.
Anyone have any ideas for a better webhost? I don't want to spend more than $10 a month at the moment.

Welcome to WHT. With your space and bandwidth requirements you should have no problem finding a good host for your site. I recommend taking a look at the offers section, and then looking up some reviews on that potential compnay. Another thing you can try is to send a pre-sale email asking questions about hosting, to a few potential hosts and seeing who responds the quickest.

There are millions of options when choosing a webhost, and the best thing to do is to start by deciding EXACTLY what you want. At $10/Mo the only VPS provider I know is eApps.com, though there isn't 2gb space nor enough ram to run lots of database traffic.
Do you have a preference of control panel on shared hosting? cPanel is nice, Plesk is nice too. You'll find milliions of cPanel hosts and thousands of Plesk hosts.
For the hardware review site I could host it for you very cheaply and in fact because it'd have useful content on it I'd WANT to host it for you (URL in sig)
The game however, seems more complicated to me. I don't think any shared hosts are going to want you running something like that on one of their servers as it's probably going to eat up at their resources. Also if you need to be able to compile stuff etc then most hosts won't let you. Perhaps the best for this would be to get a very cheap VPS.
Eg, you get shared hosting for your site, a cheap pakage from somewhere with cPanel or something, with all the bells and whistles. You also get a check VPS, perhaps from WestHost, or check the VPS forum and don't bother paying for anything expensive like a control panel and run your game off that. RapidVPS has a $10 VPS plan which might suit you, but you'd have a bit of trouble getting your site on a Webmin VPS unless you have experience (I can help perhaps).
Also with these games you often need a server close to home, so that your latency is as low as possible and you don't get lag. You'd need to look for that and depending on where you live this might cost extra.

Control panel doesn't bother me, as long as there is a gui of some sort.
The game is basically just a file site. About 1gb of different mods and games based off Angband that people can download. It doesn't use sql, so it shouldn't be too much of a burden. It also isn't multiplayer/server run, user must download and install, and play it on his own system. So, latency and all that isn't a problem, just space.
The main problem that I've been having is that 100webspace artifically limits the number of visitors/users/whatever you want to call it on my site.
I'll take a look at your plan.

I get "too many concurrent users" as an error.
According to 100webspace, that is intentional, they run a script that automatically blocks users after a certain number access due to "security reasons".
Annoyingly, they don't mention this in their ToS...

I don't think that's any script, just a normal setting of my.conf for max allowed connections per user.
But well.. that depend of each host, if I'm not wrong, at hostgator is 20█ Shared Web Hosting - Reseller Hosting - Semi-Dedicated Servers - SolusVM/XEN VPS

So, what it's looking like is that I'd have to move up to virtual dedicated, or dedicated servers?
How about the host in your sig (jedito), does it limit things like that?

Thegpfury, DO NOT purchase service from Connect-Hosting.
He is breaking forum rules and will be dealt with.
Its best to give a thorough look through on any potential host to check for max-connection or load clauses that may cause you problems, but with your usage, it probably won't be a problem.
Just so you know, hosts ARE NOT allowed to ever contact you or recommend their services; either directly or indirectly, to you. They can have them in their signatures though.
You don't need a Virtual server or a Dedicated server by any means. A well set shared plan should suit you fine.
A favorite around this forum is www.hostgator.com - give them a look

If you need more MySQL connections than a normal setup will allow you you'd need your own server, whether VPS or dedicated and you'd need to change the settings yourself, no host will do this for you.
The only places I know you'll get a VPA for your $10 budget will ne RapidVPS.com, Westhost.com, or eApps.com and eApps' 128mb RAM will become your enemy.

I didn't like connect-hosting's plans so no worries about me buying from them. :-)
Right now, I'm looking at either westhost, or downtown host. Anyone have any experience with them?
