VPS .. or dedicated ... HELP ME!!!!

    Hi,

I want to host one site:

It performs bout 1,000 MySQL queries per second.
200 users online at the same time
    500 visitors per hour

What do I need... VPS or Dedicated?
And how much power do I need?

And Who is the best provider?

    Thanks,

If you're very serious about those numbers, you're going to need more then just a VPS or a dedicated server. You'll need to look into a multi-server clustered solution or a very beefy individual server.

You may also want to consider one server for web and a very beefy server for database.

The ratio of the first figure (1000 MySQL queries per second) and the latter two don't really match. I wonder what sort of site is it?

Oh and as taylorwilsdon suggested above, you'd more than likely have to look into clustered solutions.

Rent out a huge data center! Can you let us know what site this is for? The one server for the database and one for the web content sounds like an excellent idea.

I recommend a managed vps as if it overloaded they would tell you and if it breaks they will fix!

Thats an awful idea. You shouldn't be putting a site this large on a shared environment, even if your resources are guaranteed.

it varies according to your sql usages but if I were you I would try vps first but with a high level one
