    What data center/network?

The processors are fast but you're going to have problems with I/O if you really want to push that box. When you start purchasing boxes like this, it's time to start looking at SCSI.

Actually, the only thing we can judge now, are the system specs. Included in this offer is Level 1 administration (which is??), unknown service and an unknow network.

This doesn't mean this couldn't be a perfect deal; we just can't tell this way.

I guessing you mean Dual CPU Single Core 248...the 248 is not a dual core processor to let you know.

As long as it is dual cpu it would be a nice box for a good price. (as long as the service from your provider is good)

I have to say i agree. When i see a contract i think about all the trouble and lost money if the solution quality is poor and i want out.

We have no idea, since we don't know what/where this is hosted, it could be hosted at your local 7-Eleven and it would be a bad deal.

Data Center being close does not mean anything other than local calls to support, I live one block away from AT&T(used to be SBS, used to be Pacbell, used to be ....) and I use cable for my home phone service.

I would reccomend to go with them if they have their own DC or find good references about them if they are resellers. In both cases I wouldn't worry about one year contract. If they own DC it is unlikely that they will dissapear tomorrow. If they are long term with good refernces reseller - the same. But if it is one man shop - reseller - I wound't reccomend to o with them even on monthly bases.

I asked the company about this and they said: there is single core and dual core. and they refered me to the following link:

    amd.com/us-en/Processors/ProductInformation/0,,30_118_8826_8832,00.html

    Can anybody confirm please?

    Thanks.

The 248 is not a dual core.

The 265+ are dual cores (265,270,275,280..)

Everything under 265 is single core.

    Good site to look at...

doesn't say whether its dual core or not but the only 248 they have is a 1MB Cache when the 265+ are 2MB (2x1MB Cache) which shows that it only has one core.

"Sorry about that, you are right, I went and did the research myself as well and yes indeed the processor is a 64 Bit Single core and not a dual core as it showed on my specs. I have made the corrections to it.
Nonetheless, this server will still perform faster than the Dual Xeon server"

    Thanks devonblzx

I bet it wasn't intentional, good thing you checked here, I don't know anything about AMD CPU and I am glad someone here does.
