Question PowerVPS - my site's slow.

    Hello,

I just have been with powerVPS for 2 weeks. But the speed is slow to load my site. When I ping my IP, it is about 253, it is so diffirent when I tested their IP (before I decided to go with PowerVP), it was about 150 when I ping.

And also when I checked my site speed bases on Alexa overview, the result is my site very slow, it needs 7.5 seconds to load my site. When I had been with site5, it was about 4 seconds to load.

Is there any body like me?

edit: Their support is also getting slower than the first time.

Whats your VPS specs? Also post your 'top' results.

If you have lower cpu loads maybe the host node is overloading.

Your Vps guaranteed resources (cpu, memory, hdd).

To get usage info execute when connected using ssh:

    ps x
    cat /proc/user_beancounters
    top

Where are you located geographically in relation to your VDS? Run some traceroutes to see where the latency is occurring. A ping is just a round trip time, which means the latency could be on your local network, the network of your VDS, or anywhere in between.

I received their response after 4 hours and they said they rebooted my server. But the speed doesnot change. it is still slow.

I live in japan and the server must be in USA, I guess. I run some traceroutes and gave them the result to check. They said, "seems it's dying at the end" and rebooted.

That is the normal latency from US to Japan. If you were wanting to get 30ms ping times from your site, I would recommend a Japanese provider.

Wish I could but I am unfamiliar with the market there. Although, a normal rule of thumb is if you are crossing the ocean to get to your server....I can usually guarantee you 200ms of latency.

This is actually from Staminus in LA.

Considering 18 hops that is around normal....honestly not sure why we're being routed through Dallas --> Atlanta --> Washington....that is strange....... anyway

Can your VPS resolve DNS names as one issue I've seen on some scripts is they try to do lookups and fail causing it to all be slow. The stats you posted above show no major issues. In the VZPP are you seeing any errors?
