It's also down for me. If I try to login to the members area I get "Error Unable to Connect to Database do to network problems, 2Checkout has been notified, please try again in a few minutes."

I submitted a support request but have not heard anything yet. I imagine they are too busy trying to fix the problem. I'm sure it will be resolved soon.

But I'll still throw in another Grrr...

2checkout have been kinda ok for us. Does anyone know of a contact telephone number for 2checkout.com? We were worried because our payment hadn't gone into our account - I have sent them 3 urgent emails but I didn't get a response to any!?!?!

It truly is unfortunate that 2checkout.com is down for all of you, but Deahost, if you are processing thousands of dollars per month, do yourself a HUGE favor and get a merchant account. It will really save you money when you are processing thousands per month.

Remember no matter where you have your merchant account your gateway is still going to be on someone else's server and if they are down.. so are you.. We have had our own account for years and this same thing happened last week and has happened a few other times in the past. It is the same as if your server is down and your customers are screaming at you

Is is upsetting? heck yes but nothing the guys a 2checkout.com can do if a server goes down or their gateway fails. They are good people..

If you are getting more than $700 a month in sales you should be on your own merchant account anyway since it would be cheaper.

I have a little problem with this situation, are you all trying to say that merchant accounts don't have network problems as well? I'm assuming if we check Authorize.net's uptime it probably wouldn't show 4 or 5 years what do you all think?

Even if you don't use the merchants servers to do the processing, you still have to connect to the servers to do "real-time processing".

I see this a lot, you all expect absolute perfection when it comes to your outsourcing yet I HIGHLY doubt that any of you haven't had a single problem which caused downtime. A company doing the amount of transactions that 2CO does is bound to have down time here and there, just like even the largest merchant processing banks, and the most highly regarded upstream providers.

And honestly, I somehow doubt ANYONE lost a couple of thousand dollars in the hour and 45 minutes that 2CO was down. I somehow doubt any company on this board charges $500 every hour in hosting.

    Exactly

I don't know the guys at 2checkout personally but some of the people I do business with know them very well and they are good folks from what I have seen. Cut them some slack.

I did not even think about the part on losing $1000's of dollars.. I would have to be down for a couple of weeks to lose that much in new sign ups. Where are you guys advertising? Me wants part of that good deal..

    Play nice, have fun..

I agree that 2CheckOut offers a good service. We've had very little problems with them.

I do think though that the limitations of having to cancel and recreate a recurring order to make changes to the amount billed each month are a little too much. I've suggested to them a way to do it and still verify the change with the customer, but they wouldn't have anything to do with it.

I recommend a merchant account if you can go with one, we're looking into ECHO (www.echo-inc.com) at the moment.

I completely agree with you. We've had no major problems either, but I've always been somewhat surprised at the amount of work is necessary to make adjustments to recurring billing!
