    Something blew up at YouTube

    http://www.youtube.com

Kind of a neat little diagram of their cluster setup on the main page.

Ahh looks like it's fixed, was down for a good while. Nothing too amazing, they just posted a splash page with a simple diagram of how the YouTube server cluster is distributed, with a little icon showing where the problem occurred. I'm enough of a geek that I was already a bit curious of how such a massive system was setup, and that showed what the deal was. Also a clever and simple way of updating their users.

Fortunately I decided to snatch the diagram for our CTO before things came back, so I'll attach that to prove I'm not crazy.

Its back to school week. They need a headline for the water cooler. Like when ebay used to go down the day after Thanksgiving and it was on every 15 minute segment at cnn for a day.
