I'm using Cpanel for my nameservers, but i need to add a subdomain to go to a different IP.
Is this possible with Cpanel, to add a "A" record and to have it direct to an IP. Has anyone done this before?
It is easily done if you have access to WHM (Web Host Manager), if you're an end user then you'll need to contact your hosting company and ask them if they could do that for you. In the case you do have WHM, you wanna go down to DNS Functions then Add A DNS Zone, there you can put in your IP and subdomain you want that IP to go to.
Yes..I've done this. I have my only main domain on server "A" with twenty subdomains pointing to VPS server "B". Cpanel on server "B" did get sort of sticky with no "A" record for the main domain...but once added..it seems fine.
dnsreport.com seemed pleased with the unusal config as well...so...I guess it's fine.
