    premature errors, 500 [urgent please]

I get internal 500 errors on one particular server after going from php 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 (all modules the same except newer php version)

    apache log:

    Premature end of script headers

    (all php based sites)

What is the fix for this?

    Another problem with fastcgi:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart: httpd not running, trying to start
Syntax error on line 193 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
FastCgiIpcDir /tmp/fcgi_ipc: access for server (uid -1, gid -1) failed: write not allowed

    phpsuexec enabled / centos 4.3 / cpanel 10x stable

I ran the below as well, didn't fix it.

    /scripts/chownpublichtmls
    find /home -perm 755 -type d
    find /home -perm 755 -type f
    find /home -perm 755 -exec chmod 755 {} \;

The odd part is I have two other servers 100% identcial literally (o/s, cpanel, modules, etc) and it upgraded fine.

    Modules:

    Expires Module
Raise FD_SETSIZE to 16384 (System Wide)

Hey I really need help on this. I'm not the only one with this problem apparently, others complaining on cpanel forums w/o a resolution (not even from cpanel support)

If you still have fastCGI make /tmp/fcgi_ipc 777.

How is your php compiled as? Apache or CGI?

I did make it 777, even disabled it temporarily.

I have apache/php suexec support enabled (apache 1.3x).

I'm baffled. Its killing me, cpanel support is dead crappy and cpanel forums is slow in responding

Apache is fine, had to downgrade back to 4.4.2 php again.

    This is pathetic. Cpanel sucks!

Anyway, I did #8 on easyapache, that FIXED the problem, however it removed ALl virtual hosts. I had to do a rollback on httpd.conf and the problem came again!

So wouldn't that tell you it's a problem with the configuration file entries and not cPanel?

What does cPanel have to do with apache anyways?

Many of us in the last week or so have run into 2 Major problems:
    - maintainence updates
    - compiling Apache which one 'must' use a Control Panel script for proper/easy Cpanel compliance

NoAgendas, I've answered your post on the easyapache - glibc problem which should give you a solution. I also believe your problem in that post and this one, are related to the same solution.

You are right, maintenance has been screwing everything up for sure. I don't know what the hell is wrong with these cpanel guys that they can't just stop this ongoing charade of bugs and fix ALL the remaining bugs without the need to RACE to a new version.

Cpanel takes over the o/s, that is what it has to do with apache. Is it not cpanel that injects virtual hosts? Is easy apache not cpanel's script?
