What is your PC like?
I have only just recently bought a new PC case, just thought I would show it off

Image 2
It's a pain my camera does not capture how really cool looking my new case is, this is the first case that I've completely liked without having to mod all to much I ended up stripping my last case putting new panels on it with a few rivets then drilling holes where I thought appropriate haha it looked good until I realized I forgot the CD Drive hole which I did a dodgy job and the look was ruined. On this case however I've only mod’ed the electrical’s under the front panel which you open to use the CD drive was a switch to turn the blue lights on the front off and on, I added the extra fans to this switch so at the flick of a switch my PC lights turn off and the noise produced is allot less... which is handy because the PC is close to my bed and I hate light/noise when trying to sleep.
I'm still behind with technology using...
768MB DDR400 Ram.
1.6Ghz AMD Sempron (Overclocked to 2.0Ghz).
Average CD Burner.
Asus Motherboard.
80GB IDE HDD.
& only just bought a 17" LCD screen a month ago.
So what is your PC like?

Typical Xaser III case with the HD racks converted to removable racks.
Havent done what I've been wanting to do, but my next case will be a plain black one.

My home pc which my father insists is still up to date..
800mhz AMD Duron
256mb ram
20GB hard drive
Gefore MX graphics
Yesterday he came out with the comment "Isn't it the same as a pentium 4?"....
I could of gone on forever explaining how that comment couldn't be further from the truth, but I doubt he would understand a single word I would say..
That said, I have nice a laptop
amd turion 64 1.8ghz (1.6ghz fsb)
1gig ram
ati xpress 200m pci xpress graphics with dedicated 128mb vram
100gig hard drive
15.4" widescreen
dvd/rw
loads of ports & inbuilt wireless
remote control
However I am really amazed at how prices are decreasing and new things being brought out.. I only bought this laptop last month, and now for the same price I can buy the newer version with double everything (even dual core processor)..
But anyway, it's enough for me till next year!

I bought my current home/office PC 2 years ago without using cutting edge technology.

128mb ATI VGA
19" Philips CRT
WD 40G PATA (added a second WD SATA 80G 2 months ago)

I'm going to be upgrading to an SATA drive... anyone upgraded from IDE to SATA and notice any majour speed difference?
I'm mainly upgrading because my Western Digital drive is 2 getting on 3 years old and its starting to show signs of old age... its also alot louder than what it used to be and I want my PC to be as quiet as possible.
Also what do you think is the best brand of hard drive? I've always used Western Digital, but im thinking of going to Seagate because from what I've read there alot quieter and more reliable.

All this is in a temporary office until I get the new office sorted so it's not quite how I want it...
Desktop
Dell Dimension 9150
Pentium D 950 (Dual Core 3.4)
4GB RAM
2x 250GB SATA RAID0
Dual 19" TFT's (DVI)
nVidia 7900GS
Notebook
HP NX9030
Centrino 1.7
1GB RAM
60GB Disk
15" TFT
Intel Graphics
All running XP Pro in our Windows Domain.
Oh and I also have a Macbook, but I realised the VPN software we use doesn't run on Mac so I'm going to have to install Windows on it or it's going to be useless when I take it out of the office .

I would certainly use Seagate drives, we've had a lot less problems with them compared to the other brands out there. And they are not just reliable, they are pretty speedy too!
You should notice the difference between SATA and IDE, especially if you have a motherboard that supports SATA2!
