cant seem to install 550 OSRCD on my XTR
i've tried the process after searching this forum, to which i cannot link due to my post restrictions.
i have a fully working RaQ XTR. when i boot from the 550 OSRCD it says "***HALT*** mount" once it formats the drive(s). it does this with any drives i use, and any combination.
i have run the XTR OSRCD several times and that works successfully.
it doesnt ask me to flash my rom. and the bluelinq page says i have 2.8.14.
do i have to manually upgrade my rom before the OSRCD does it's thing? i always thought it just did it...
hope you can help!
okay, so i worked this one out myself.
my RaQ XTR was flashed before i got it with the Ext3 2.10.3 rom. and the 550 OS cd needs XFS.
so i flashed back to 2.9.34 and now the restored cd goes through it's thing, but once it's done with the rpms and restarts, it gets as far as starting clocks....then just reboots without any error message.
if i choose to boot from rom it gets further, and asks for an ip address. but it then wont keep the ip address i give it, and reverts back to no ip set.
so now i'm totally confused
Farely it remember me to a problem I currently have with a RaQ3i, but this probably has other reasons.
It still looks that you did something wrong during OS installation (note that you need a special kernel for a RaQx working as a RaQ550).
You may look at http://www.nuonce.net for the matching kernels, I think (not sure) that they are even free of charge.
Just found a very similar topic on this board that answers your question probably more extensive than I could do:
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=258990 (especially take attention to the second page).
bearing in mind it's an XTR not a RaQ4....
i didnt see any kernels for this. however, i think you're on the right lines, i'm also convinced it was kernel related, since when i boot from rom the thing works on the rom kernel.
is the XTR kernel more similar to a Raq 4 or a 550?
but anyway, since then i've gone back to the XTR os and installed the packages from zeffie.com and i'm pretty happy with it
