Hi,I did my config. for Windows 2000 professional inorder to run the computer as webserver using Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, I could able to post only one web site and it was working fine online. Drawbacks:- Only 10 connections possible- Only 1 website can be hostedSo, I try doing the same setting with Windows 2003 Server Platform. The web content is not pinging in my client browser. Connectivity, Settings and even my browser opens the default web content, but my client browser is not opening this web content.Hope you got my point clear.Kindly help me on this issue.RegardsAmalan
You can able to host multiple sites by differentiating using hostheader or port number. I'm not sure why you have switched from win2000 to 2003, as you can able to do this in win2000 itself. I strongly recommend you to hire a person for administering your server.
My previous try was not on windows 2000 server, but on windows 2000 professional edition.I did't ask about hosting multiple websites right now. But even hosting single website is not assessable to proxy system.Help Me.
Thanks for your valuable effofts.
I know very well before running a Server that I need a Static IP address. Its all well config. and running safe. For your kind information, Im already running a mailserver with my existing setup. The only thing is Web Content such as .htm files are not opening in my browsers system. To be very clear - My system pings my ip address perfectly but it shows the server is offline to my browsers.
This could be your primary problem. Windows 2000 Professional is probably limiting your number of connections and web sites allowed. Microsoft is incredible for limiting (though I use them all the time) number of connections without forcing you to upgrade to the next best version of Windows. In fact, these numbers actually ring a bell to me. I think you should look into this and consider 2000 Server or Windows 2003. (web at the least - which should probably be good enough!)
Yes, Win2003 - lockdown mode. You need to enable it on web server extension as per maxknight suggestion.
Can you please let us know if you are getting any error messages like DNS error or 404 error ? What exact message you are getting when you access your site since this will give a clear picture of your problem.
