VPS Choices
Basically I am running vBulletin, vBAdvanced, photopost, reviewpost, and VBSEO.
I am considering a managed VPS and definetely require shell access so I can run mysql commands and other stuff. IONCUBE/ZEND needs to be available, modrewrite rules turned on, etc...
How much memory will I need for this? Also, I might consider hosting a few others small sites sometime down the road.
Does anyone know of a good hosting company. I was looking at the following:
verio - a little expensive
knownhost - reasonable
jaguar - reasonable
Any other suggestions would be great. Sample sites running similar forums would be great if you can provide them. My database is roughly 100 meg. It's not the largest forum on the planet but it does contain a lot of hard work and useful information.
Thanks for all of your help.

Hi
How much simultaneous users do you have in your forum, your total space and bandwidth usage per month?

Approx 50-60 users online at various times during the day. Presently the site is about 1.2gig. Not really sure about the bandwidth I'm presently using.

A good solution is a secured VPS with a control panel.
There are very good tuturials which will help you securing your VPS, Control panel should help you managing your VPS.
Memory: 128+ burstable to 512+ (to avoid online user peak which can result in slow down)
CPU: 300+(Mhz)
Space: 5-10GB (e.g.: Centos + Cpanel = +/- 2GB)
Bandwidth: 150-200GB
You must also look for some reviews and avoid providers who have a bad service.

Got any recommendations for a good reputable host? I'm not looking for a cheap host that cuts corners every way they can.. I'm looking for a very reasonable host who will be there to assist every once in a while. They should also be reliable.

KnownHost
15min/less support.
The right answer the first time.
100% Uptime
Extremely fast servers
Semi-managed @ no xtra price
cPanel/Plesk are pre-optimized.
Thats just a bit over a month for me though.

Hi!
I would recommend contacting a host and tell them exaxtly what you plan on using the VPS for...and see what they say. It can't hurt...and...that way...it saves a lot of hastle for you both.
Just a thought

slhost has semi-managed plans for 40% off if you prepay a year in advance. I've been nothing but pleased with them. I don't know how manged the plans are, to be honest. I wasn't looking for a managed plan and haven't really asked them to do a whole lot for me. It just happened to be better deal than a lot of the unmanaged ones.
I've been able to squeeze a combined IPB + drupal site with a bit less traffic than yours into a 256 meg vps, but that's running debian with all the control panals removed and lots of database babying.

I am going to be buying the V4 plan from HostMaven, and that is completely unmanaged, so once I move over there I will let you know how things go.
PS: They have coupons in the VPS offerings forum.

Knownhost also does offer a nice coupon - http://knownhost.com/specials.html
But I wish you good luck with your new host!
