    Incorrect CPU?

    Hey,
I had ordered for a Sempron 2400 from Servers4Me for a server running Plesk for personal purposes, and when I recieved the server, Plesk states the CPU as AuthenticAMD, AMD Athlon(tm) Processor.

Do you think they might have setup an Athlon instead of a Sempron or does it show the same for a Sempron as well?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

SSH in and "cat /proc/cpuinfo". Your output should look something like this:

    vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
    cpu family : 15
    model : 28
    model name : AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3100+

    or

    vendor_id : AuthenticAMD
    cpu family : 15
    model : 47
    model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+

Not sure why the concern though. Sempron to a direct Athlon is not a bad move at all, that's like paying for a Chevy but getting a Cadillac.

    Hi PixelDawn,

We did speak with this client on MSN today,

I've verified that it is indeed a Sempron server.

However there are times when the BIOS will not be able to detect the different processor string on the system. Also please do note that Sempron is essential a rebadged Athlon processor but focusing on the budget consumer.

If I can help further please contact me at jamie (at) servers4me.com or http://helpdesk.4menetwork.net and we will be glad to help.

    Regards,

    Jamie
