    * .IN Domains :: Transfers Prohibited?

    Hi;

I own a 3-letter domain with an .in (india) extension; the three letters coupled with the extension make for a pretty attractive domain.

I have registered this domain through a popular Indian registrar, however, I would feel:
    - More confident having this domain transferred to my current "western" registrar.
    - Happier managing this domain under the current .com/net/biz batch
    - Better if I can actually have the freedom to sell this domain should anyone want it for the right amount...

    The "problem":

    Status:CLIENT TRANSFER PROHIBITED
    Status:TRANSFER PROHIBITED

I have read the "Ministry of communications and information technology (India)" [http://www.mit.gov.in/inpolicy.asp] and nowhere did I find any transfer restrictions.

    - Can a domain registrar "lock" a domain name in as to prevent it from leaving its pool?

Any ideas/comments/reactions are welcome guys, I need it badly on this one.

    Thank you.

    TB.

I also tried to transfer a .in name the other day, I tried most of the well known registers and a few others and all would not let me transfer due to tld issues but many of them did offer .in registration.

It would be good to hear what others say.

it may simply be LOCKED. log into the domain control panel at the registrar, and UNLOCK it.

    Thanks Burnt,
Can you tell me how to unlock it. I don't know the procedure and have never heard of unlocking domains.
    Thank you.

    With regards,

Login to your domain admin panel. Select the domain and then look around for a lock/unlock feature in your domain admin menu.
