I recently purchased a dedicated box from webfusion.
First, it took three days to setup. They then send me an email with a link to the webmin control panel saying all was setup and working (I have also bought a cisco firewall).
Webmin wouldnt connect - i called support .. they had no idea and asked me to open a ticket .. i done this and was advised that the firewall was blocked the connection and I had to login to sort this (fair enough) - But I should have be given the IP and login information for the firewall in my welcome email!!
Ok now .. I have locked myself out using iptables (my fault completely) - so this morning I opened a ticket to the dc .. they just sent me an email saying my server had been rebooted (about 80 minutes later)
So this time .. I open another ticket reminding them that I need an admin to login locally to sort the iptables .. over 4 hours later I get the following:
"I'm happy enough to forward this request to the datacentre for you.
Please be aware that this is not strictly supported and the staff in today are not system administrators so I can't guarantee that we will be able to progress it to allow access remotely.
We will get back to you via this ticket once we have a response from our colleagues."
I still have no connection to my server .... is this the kind of service you would put up with?
I would say you need to find a new DC as that service is terrible. They should always have someone avaliable to sort issues like that out immediatly. If I may ask how much are you paying for this awesome service?
Interesting ... its all back online. They stopped iptables from loading at boot and restarted the machine. But they havnt told me yet (ive set a script to ping the server and beep at me when one gets through)
Its been back for about 30 minutes now .. wonder when they will tell me! hehe
