no limit developer
Hello,
I was wondering what do you mean about this offer?
http://www.hostdepartment.com/nolimitdeveloper.html
-Disk space: no limit
-bandwidth: no limit
-mailboxes: no limit
-MSSQL, MySQL, PgSQL: no limit
and the cost: $10.95/month quarterly, $9.95/month semi-anually, $7.95/month anually.
ASP.NET 2 included.
This deal seems to good to be true ... right?
Is there anyone who already tried their service ? Any suggestion will be highly appreciated

It is indeed too good to be true. They can do well with it as a marketing gimmick, however, because while it attracts many users, the majority of folks do not use anywhere near enough storage space or transfer to cause trouble for them. Right now in the industry, it's seen as a brilliant marketing tactic - but the jury's still out on how viable this business model will be long-term.

Just try to host a national search engine that gets several millions queries per day and let's see how long it will take before they kick you...

I think this has been discussed many times here in WHT. There is no manufacturer that produces "No Limit" HDD. So no servers out there would have a "no limit" hdd either

This is the real meaning of overselling. But, it is sure that one day or other they will run out of line.
So better to stay away from them!!!!!

We seriously need to have a sticky on this board telling everyone that there is no such thing as unlimited space or bandwidth.

As unhelpful as it may be, I'll answer your question with one of my own: Why would you spend the time and effort moving your site to (or launching your site at) a service you expect will tank in the future?

This could mean that you could get in to awful lot of problems if you actually signup with them Remember they are offering you something that does not exist in the real world.

Hello,
We are using SAN (Storage Area Network) using fibre channel to connect our server farm into our storage network which can support thousands of TBs of data. So the HDD is virtually unlimited, since we can always add more space when needed simply by plugging in more HDD into the SAN.
Both for bandwidth and space, we do have a no limit *policy*. As long as your website does not violate our policy, we really don't limit your growth. As simple as that
Enjoy!
