How to correct this accident?

I had just typed some important information into wordpad... then saved it. I meant to save it as a regular text file but accidentally saved it as a MS-Dos application. I have no idea how I managed to accidentally do that!

The problem is that now I can't open it in order to read the important info I have typed in that document. I am now screwed as I need to read that document right now but can't and don't have it saved anywhere else.

Is there anyway I can chnage that icon from an MS-Dos to a text file?

I don't know how on eath I managed to save it as an MS-Dos by accident instead of a regular text file... shoot

In Windows Explorer (or any My Computer window) go to Tools -> Folder Options. Then go to the View tab and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'. Apply changes.

Find your file, right-click it and rename it. Name it whatever.txt and save it. You should know be able to open it.
