Other than a new voltage regulator and a new bios update (microcode support), there really doesn't seem to be a good reason why some vendor can't produce a E7230 based motherboard that supports the new Core 2 Duo processors.

We currently use the Asus P5MT-M board plus Prescott CPU - but would really like to switch to the Conroe.

So far I have only found one vendor who claims this combo works:

I've written then an email trying to find out what motherboard they are using.

Anyone have more to share on this topic?

PDSMI won't do Conroe, but PDSMI+ will run Core2 Duo according to Supermicro support. however, I'm not sure when PDSMI+ can be availabel?!

The motherboard is based on an updated version of E7230 chipset. Detailed information about the chipset and the motherboard will be available in September.

The problem is that Intel has said that they no longer intend to allow the new chipset to support the desktop chips:
