Migrating Accounts Into cPanel w/o cPanel

While trying to migrate one of my final accounts via cPanel, I ended up running out of disk space on the old server. It, for some reason, built a 400+ part archive of the files that ended up using like 40% of my hard drive. I have no idea why the archives ended up taking so much more space, but I obviously can't use the cPanel method.

Since I am using cPanel on the new server, however, is there a way to migrate the accounts (perhaps by manually tarballing the folders) so that they'll be configured to use cPanel accounts on the new box?

You can do it manually as below.

on source server:
/scripts/pkgacct user
scp user.tar.gz root@dest_server:/home

destination server:
/scripts/restorepkg user
