Lunarpages, bluehost or hostgator ?

Well, I have narrowed down my search for a good webhosting service to the three in the title... they seem reasonable...

The thing is that I am planning on putting a site on the net wich should eventually attract quite a few visitors (hopefulle around 2000 or more a month)... I am trying to keep my site as light as possible but I've calculated that I it will be medium heavy... some pics and alot of textual content.

Because I don't really know how much bandwidth I will need I will probably go for a hostingplan wich will offer the most. I am just wondering if there are people out there who can give me an indication about how bandwidth intensive their sites are (plus a small description of their site) and how much bandwidth they actually use per month...

Furthermore, wich one would you recommend out of the three companies in the title ? I mean this from point of reliability / service, up/down time ... in short ... value for money...

grts.

I have not used either one of those hosts, however I know that hostgator's live chat is ALWAYS on and people are there 24/7. Thats all i can contribute, hope this helps .

All 3 of these host are reliable providers. You can find many reviews about them if you do a WHT search with their names. I can not say exactly, but looking at the given information I wouldn't think you would need more than 10GB. Inserted of going after higher bandwidth offers, I would recommend going after a host that offers a good service for your money. Reamember, whatever you choose make sure you do your homework well and take your time finding a good host and you will succed in the long run.

Best of luck with your search!

That's a relatively low number of visitors. Unless they're going to be very active, and you distribute/present large files/images, I doubt you'll use over 10Gb of data transfer per month.

That's not a wise decision. It means you'd be shopping based on price only, and that's one of the riskiest methods to use.

There's plenty of feedback to be found about the hosts you mentioned. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php Just make sure you read the threads in their entirety, because titles or initial claims from customers sometimes turn out to be not so true.

Good luck!

If you'll only be getting about 2,000 visitors/month, I think you'll be fine with either one those 3 hosts. Start small, then as your site gets bigger, upgrade the hosting plan (or host).

If you don't need 400gb of bandwidth, why go for a web host that offers it? As Dan explained, your web site will not be using anywhere near that amount.

Find a host that meets your requirements.

I have been with hostgator, the service is very good and very rarely the site was down. Customer support is very good too. They have many packages that you will be able to upgrade to, in case you will need it. However if you need open ports for your site don't go with them, they block many ports, at least at that time when I was with them. That was the reason why I had to change host.

Now I am with bluehost. Server performance is even better than hostagor, uptime is very very good too - better than hostgator. There was no downtime ( noticed or reported by the site members ) since the last 16 days. Support is great and now they have live chat too. If you are concerned of open ports, with a dedicated IP you will have all ports open, however at this moment they are not able to sell more dedicated IP's.

I can't say anyhting about Lunarpages since I never had an account with them.

My pick would be hostgator, but as stated by others, all 3 are very good choices.

I used to have a good opinion of these three hosts mentioned: Lunarpages, Bluehost and Hostgator.

I thought they were the only good hosts. But if you look around there are others...Took me 1 month of searching but in the end I still had to move ahead and settle for one....Time is money after all.

Guess what? It aint any of those three. Sure, my host isnt the best, far from it... but sometimes we just have to keep moving. I was having the same question as you but its impossible to find a good host for shared hosting as least.

As for Hostgator, they have a very strict sign up procedure which put me off and very explicit terms of service, which you'd do well to read through.

I personally consider that a very explicit terms of service is a good thing. I am not sure which way you meant it because from that sentence it can be interpreted either way.

HostGator had been a good host when I was with them last year. Their staff was helpful whenever needed and I never had any issues with my website, setting things up or bill wise.

I'd recommend them for sure.

If you need to host adult material, I guess Lunarpages would be for you. Otherwise I'd go with Hostgator.
