Undercover moderators
It may seem stupid, but I think I may be a good idea to have some undercover moderators.
For instance, an undercover mod can create a new account and post a forum saying “I am looking for a new host” Then they can see who are ignoring WHT rules by Spamming or soliciting via PM.
They can do these kinds of things very very rarely.
I think this would help a lot WHT enforce the rules

If we have to resort to techniques that are considered illegal in real-life law enforcement in order to run an effective community, we have some real problems!
Personally, I don't think we're anywhere near that point. If someone gets spam, they can simply report it
(BTW, the scenario you described above would be considered entrapment)Studio1337___̴ı̴̴̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|̡̡̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡̡.__Web Design

Well, it's kind of a good idea, but most new users won't report spam because they probably don't know better.

The community seems pretty clean as it is. Seems like the the mods do a heck of a job considering the size of the userbase. I remember what this forum was like many years ago when RackShack had it.

but i dont think this would ruin the community. we need rules and they need to be reinforced.
Real life is an effective community too. conducting simple undercover things like hiding and catching speeding cars are making our communities better.

Believe me, we have rules and we're not timid about enforcing them. The biggest problem is that the role of the moderators is not just to enforce rules. To the contrary, this should be the smallest part of our time. We should be spending time making sure discussions run smoothly and participating in discussions in constructive way as examples to others. If iNet wants to hire and pay a community Gestapo to be WHT big brother, they're free to do so. But the volunteer community members who moderate WHT shouldn't spend their time baiting traps. They should spend it participating productively and handling questionable items when brought to their attentionStudio1337___̴ı̴̴̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|̡̡̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡̡.__Web Design

Just so you guys know...offering someone an opportunity to commit a crime is not entrapment (in the US.)

So maybe the best idea would be to edit the forum design so just the page that shows you your new PM has a message along the lines of:
"If you have received an unsolicited message offering you services - please report the message here as this is against the <link>rules</link>"

I vote for undercover WHT members to attempt to bribe the mods.

Just not happening here. It's ethically wrong to try and get members to self incriminate by baiting. For the most part the ones that do this get found out anyway....no need to go fishin'.
