Closing one company down, reinventing another..

Hey everyone....

As others have stated, the hosting market is so over crowded, even with advertising, it's tough to break in. So, I'm moving in another direction.

First, I'm working with someone here at the WHT Forums to go on a new venture. I think there's more money in this, than there is in hosting....

Second, I'm closing down my old site, entservers.com , and integrating it into my fansite, shreddersdojo.com .I'm just soley focusing on fan sites now, and only taking in as much as my current plan can hold. No server stressing, no 'overbooking' of the server...nothing like that

We'll see if this new venture holds. I may even make it free hosting, as lowering the price to 4$'s a month to keep competetive just didn't seem worth it. What I'm hoping to do, is get contacts in the entertainment industry, and put only related adds on the site. Videogames, DVD's, VHS, DVD Players, etc, straight from the companies, so as to avoid all the scam adds..

We'll see if this new venture works.

Sounds like a good idea. Nich markets are far more productive in a competitive industry such as this one. Did you have a question? Or were you just sharing the news?

Just sharing the news, although now I do have a question..

What's the best way to go about getting that target advertising started? I was thinking of going back to Amazon's advertising program, but I don't know if anyone has had any real success with that...

You might try requesting and paying for advertising on other sites (not hosting) that are within your target market. You also may try writing articles on the subject that is related to that market, and post on forums of that type.

Phonebook or online phone directories, target local niches or contact some of the wholesale distributors that you see online across the internet that specialize in the types of advertising you want to feature on your website. Pitch them on how your advertising can be benificial to them, get them to do some startup campaigns, use the money from those campaigns to put back into your company through your own marketing strategy, to get more users to the site weather it be via SEO or ads in a newspaper...

In addition to advertising on websites, I've had good luck using google's adwords, however, that sometimes (depending on the market) can be quite pricey.
