As most people here may know, I'm an agnostic. There are many definitions but simply: I believe there is someone up there, he played a part, but now hes sitting back and letting us do what we want -- free will.
That being defined, times like this I doubt there is even that. Just looking at the pictures from Lebanon and all the starving people, those who are murdered, etc. I just lose faith in anything at all, most especially humanity.
To those who are great believers, what keeps you strong? Think about it, children are playing football (the foot one!) on the street when a bomb drops and blows them apart. What kind of God lets that happen. -- and this is quite civilized. Think 500+ years ago with medieval sieges. The winner would often come in and kill everyone inside -- women, children, etc.
How do you stay strong?

This is human responsibility, God will not guarantee to keep us safe and successful as we are responsible ourselve for the present atmosphere for example man should not allow human cloning because it violates God's intentions but we are doing that, God can promises his companionship and his forgiveness.

Free will is a major componant of the God's plan. Without free will, there can never be love.

Looking at the crap that goes on in this world, I lose faith in humanity, and not a higher power.

What kind of God lets a hezzie fighter launch a rocket and kill Isreali children? The God that allows free will. It's not God's fault when some Hezzie rocket, or missle from Isreali army kills innocent life. Blame that on the madness of humanity. You can walk out of your house, and murder dozens of people. They're innocents, and it was your decision to murder them. Your choice, free will.
We live in a world where one person's actions of free will can cause a devestating effect on others. Think of the thousands of innocent lives killed in the WTC attack. Maybe you're saying that God should have stopped the planes from hitting? Then where is man's free will, if God intervenes like that?
Not arguing with you. Just thinking out loud too.

You are exactly right, God created us and is giving us choices in our lives.
God could've made this life perfect, but then whats the point of creating it? God wants to put us into a test (this life) and we are to choose our path, if it is good or bad.
The main reason of our lives is to worship God to enter heaven.
God will punish everyone (including Bush) for all the deaths that occur because of them, and those who died actually get to enter heaven faster.
Peace,

You're partly right. The focus of our lives is to worship God and make him known in a world that chooses (there's that free will again) to ignore him. However, worshiping doesn't get you into heaven, faith does.

There is no God.
It's just something people needed to explain things they didn't know.
There is no heaven or hell, when people die, they'll simply be eaten by maggots and other insects. If you ever fainted, then that's probably what death is, except you'll never come back.
What keeps me strong? I just don't think about it too much, and if I do, then there's no way for me to be strong. The world is a sickening and disgusting place, and number one reason for that is humans.
Anyways, I've been in similar situation as Lebanese people when I was younger. Basically we played football outside, and then there were Serbian planes bombing random civlian targets and terrorizing people, so they either migrate out, die by suffering, or just get killed. That passed, and hopefully so will this.

Maybe this life is a test like you say azizny, but the purpose could be to rule out all those who follow blindly from those who question the existence of a higher being. In short those who have the guts to question would get rewarded ...
I like to think that those who question will be the ones to get a free pass while the others are returned to an other Earth for an other attempt

I believe you meant to say that's the purpose of your life. I live to have fun and form beliefs based on my own experiences. I'm not a slave to an unknown entity that does or does not exist.
WHTer sums it up pretty well.

I'm also an agnostic but when things go bad in my life I usually turn to this higher being (even though I'm agnostic) just in case there is one, if there isn't then I guess I'm just talking to myself but it does make me feel better to have this presence.
More like a friend than a dictator type of being. I just don't close the door to any possibility.

If "He" made all humans to "His" image, then I'm sure "His" .iso image mounting tools were corrupted (and for once, we can't blame MS)!

You should qualify such statements as opinion. You cannot prove that either way. So to be technically correct, that should have read - "IMO, there is no God".
And that is your opinion, and your opinion is to be respected.
