    Need a new box, HELP!!

I have outgrown my current box and I am in need of another one!!

I am looking for a dual core box but am not sure who to try. My current host who is awesome, XTOWEB, has priced me a nice dual xeon box but its a hair out my price range.

I am wondering if anyone can suggest a vendor with decent prices on dual xeon boxes. my requirments are pretty straight forward

    dual cpu's
    2+gb ram
    120gb or larger sata drive
    100mbps port
    2000gb bandwidth

help is appreciated as I will be doing this next week, so the hunt begins

    Hi,

How much is your budget? Managed or Unmanaged?

    Thanks

    Dual Core, or Dual CPUs?

SoftLayer.com has both of them, although I'm not sure if it would fit into your budget. If not try LayeredTech.com

If SL is in your budget and they have what you need, I have yet to see a bad (or even neutral) review of them - they've all been very good. Give them a shot.

softlayer is an excellent provider. Although if you are happy with your current provider I would express your concerns about the high pricing and see if they can cut you some slack. It is hard enough finding a decent provider these days, see if you can stick by them if at all possible

If it is a no go, Softlayer is an excellent company, I have had the pleasue of doing business with them for a few months now and they are great.

Are you sure your current provider who you are happy with wont provide you a deal? Have you asked them yet?

Rather than losing a customer I would think they would be willing to work with you a bit.

I already asked my current host and they cant compete with some of these prices and specials the "big guys" offer. I am not leaving them I am just adding another machine to the fleet

Id love to buy another one but it comes down to basic math, if I can find a better deal with the same or better quality I will buy it

so it seems SL has ots of votes, I will def look harder into them

Would definitely go with SoftLayer of all those listed here...
ManageMyServices was sold by me in September 2009. I no longer have any affiliation with this company.

Hmm, Looking on SoftLayers website.. The dual core intel quote I gave you, beats their pricing. The dual processor system, was higher by around $30 because of the difference in locations and power costs.

Give Gnax a try as well. They just opened up their new DC and I think you'll be very pleased with them.

I would go with softlayer. When you grow again, you can just move the db's to a new ox on there network, connect them via gig uplink on the private network, and you have a pretty mean backend.
