Guys I'm going to get a laptop soon and I want to move away from windows completely (Except for gaming) so I will be double booting and I'm wondering if Gentoo would be a good choice to install on a laptop. I have both the patience and the time to install it and I would like to know anyones experience with gentoo on their laptop or problems on it.

I see Gentoo as more of a hobbyist's OS however there is no reason you can't run it on a laptop with compatible hardware. I know for sure I have compiled it on my Dell Inspiron 5150 just for grins.

Runs on my Sony Laptop. Needed some tweaking during the setup, but works great.
Make sure you have half decent hardware.

Gentoo is great! But... hard to install, hard to work with. If your a beginner start out with Fedora Core (4 or 5) that's how I started. Or try out CentOS 4.x
