How do I redirect a subdomain to a different url through dns? I am running Plesk on windows with bind and IIS 6.0.

I know how to do it via HTML/Javascript header in a index.html file, but I don't want to do it that way. I know it's possible because Cpanel has the option, but Plesk doesnt, which is really annoying.

I think it invloves creating a cname or ptr record in the dns settings. Thanks for the help guys!

By the way, if it's an option in plesk let me know, but I searched and could not find a way to redirect a domain to a URL in Plesk.

Why not use a .htaccess file in the subdomain root.

Redirect permanent /index.html http://newurl.com

Yeah, not my choice, I wanted to run linux, but we have asp apps.

I was really surpised Plesk didnt have a redirect feature for subdomains, they have it for regular domains.

I used to have access to a plesk panel for testing and found the easiest way of this was just add the address as a complete new domain. Depends if you have reseller access.

There must be a easier way, but I am not that familiar on windows machines, sorry

yeah I have full access but I want to keep things tidy, and i dont want to add the subdomain as a new domain. There must be a way, because you can redirect full domains, so you must be able to redirect subdomains. I am going to look at the dns setting for a full domain redirect and see if I can figure out which records it uses.

I believe in plesk, every subdomain is created as seperate domain entry in IIS. So you can use redirect URL option in IIS.
